Depression can be difficult to recognise or express, it can feel as if a dark cloud has descended into our lives and percolates into everything we think and do. It can also be experienced as feeling sad and unable to see a way forward, feeling angry, frightened and unable to voice what it is that we are experiencing. It may be just a sense of not being happy or feeling numb. In these states it is often difficult to find our way or to know what to do when this cloud descends and it may reoccur at different times in our lives. Depression can be eased with anti depressants and whilst this can provide temporary relief from the overriding sense of being lost or sad, counselling can help us to understand the depression and give us the power and knowledge to find our own ways to actively address our experience and initiate change in our lives.
